Chiropractic care benefits all aspects of your body's ability to be healthy. This is accomplished by working with the nervous system--the communication system between your brain and body. Doctors of Chiropractic work to correct spinal, pelvic and cranial misalignments (subluxations). When misaligned, these structures create an imbalance in surrounding muscles and ligaments. Additionally, the resulting nerve system stress may affect the body's ability to function optimally.

Chiropractic Care During Pregnancy

Pregnant belly kiss istock_1.jpgChiropractic care for the pregnant woman balances the spinal and pelvic muscles and ligaments and relieves stress on the nervous system.  Reestablishing the natural position of the joints and ensuring the proper alignment of the pelvis is important to allow the healthy development of the fetus and will also facilitate a quicker, easier delivery. For mothers who recently delivered, Dr. Tara offers to stabilize the pelvic regions as the ligaments are lax due to the hormonal changes of pregnancy and birth.

We have a special table with a drop out abdominal piece and pillows which give the pregnant woman that much desired ability to lie on her stomach safely during the treatment.

The American Pregnancy Association includes chiropractic care as a safe and effective treatment during pregnancy.  Read the article here.

When your baby is Breech: The Webster Technique can help

Pregnant_2_istock.jpgDr. Tara is certified in The Webster Technique which is a safe and gentle chiropractic treatment that prepares the pregnant woman for delivery. The technique seeks to correct sacral misalignment, as well as balance pelvic muscles and ligaments which results in a safer, easier labor and delivery. This can also be 80-100% effective in allowing a breech baby to turn head-down on his or her own and can be achieved in as little as one treatment. This technique is most successful when performed prior to 38 weeks gestation, although it can be performed safely up to the day mom goes into labor.  The earlier it is implemented, the higher the chance of success, but can still be successful at the end of pregnancy.
